We were commissioned by this medical devices testing centre to provide strategic counsel and crisis communication support after its principal funder threatened to close it. We worked intensively with the client during the crisis phase to develop and document its mission, vision, values, capabilities, purpose, and its strategy for selling its services to the medtech industry, especially high potential start-ups. We coached the director how to communicate to win the funder’s trust and how raise market awareness of the centre’s capabilities.
As a result of our intervention, funding was continued. The centre is now embedded in the national scientific research infrastructure. It has since pioneered 3d printing of human organs for use in transplant surgery.
